Storm. You can hear how rain falls on the ground and creates hypnotizing sound. She seats on the bed with hands covering her eyes and makes moaning noises. A tear comes out between her fingers and falls on the book she was reading just a second ago. It splashes on the page destroying the ink and leaving monstrous stains. Thousands and maybe even millions of thought are going through her head at this moment. Thoughts no one can hear but her.
“He just said those words, easy, quick and without any doubt. Like everything, we’ve ever had just disappeared. Why?
Sunday nights are the worst. The city surrounded by darkness gets quiet, people are getting to bed early and preparing themselves to meet their “favorite” day of the week, but I stay awake… Full moon glances at me through the cracked glass window and with a judgmental look hides behind the clouds. I hear how the wind is playing with the trees in front of my building and leafs are dancing perfectly synchronized with one another. Nights are getting warmer, but I still feel little goosebumps on my skin so I put on my comfy pajama and get under the blanket. I open the laptop and start scrolling down my Facebook timeline, hoping to find something new. Annoyed by Tasty and cat videos, shared by my friends multiple times, I turn on Netflix and put on cheesy romantic comedy that would probably make me feel even worse than I already am. I pick up a glass of red wine from my bed stand and take couple sips. It feels nice. This is what was waiting for the whole day…
W train is back to Queens.
Monday, 6am. I just bought my usual cup of coffee from Dunkin Donuts and running to the train station. Metro Card pretends like it’s not working again. Spilling hot coffee all over myself and holding jelly donut in my mouth, I am looking for a wallet in the enormous huge backpack I carry on me today. Yes, I am a commuter. Every day I travel on the Q train between Queens and Brooklyn, which basically takes about 3.5 hours of my life each day. After purchasing completely new MetroCard, I was about to swipe it as I see W train sign. Wait a second. Did I miss anything? Where did the Q train go?
Last year I wrote an article for a magazine about Donald Trump.
You could read it here or follow this link: Immigrants and Trump
“Politics was never one of my interests until Donald Trump became a presidential candidate. It changed everything. It gave me worries about all the immigrants in America, about people who basically build the greatest country in the world. And now, he is talking about deporting them all. Trump keep saying: “Thousands of Americans have been killed by illegal immigrants”. This statement is, in fact, not true. Immigrants don’t kill people, people kill people, just some of them happen to be immigrants. Here is a well-known fact: illegal immigrants are less likely to engage in criminal behavior than the native-born population.
According to ACS data, the U.S. immigrant population stood at more than 42.4 million, or 13.3 percent, of the total U.S. population of 318.9 million.
Does Donald Trump seriously plan to depart the immigrants?
